The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has issued a statement after the Scottish people voted to remain within the United Kingdom.

“The Archbishops’ search for a long-term plan is much needed”, writes Robin Thomson in the Church Times, in the week that the Reimagining Care Commission launched its Listening and Engagement exercise. 

Archbishop of Canterbury welcomes the result but stresses this is not "winner takes all" but "in love a time for the family to move on together."

The sermon is part of the Church of England’s first national digital service for Easter Sunday. 

Following the result of the US Presidential election, the Archbishop of Canterbury said today:

Archbishop Justin preached at Canterbury Cathedral on this first Sunday following the death of our Late Queen, Her Majesty Elizabeth II.

‘Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live recently the Archbishop said, “We have had to learn in the Church that you talk about survivors and victims, that they must come first.”

Archbishop Justin Welby and Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, Council Chair of the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) made this joint statement today. 

Archbishop Justin wrote to His Eminence, Metropolitan Onufry of Chernivtsi and Bukovina to express deep sorrow at the passing away of the Primate of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the Most Reverend Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kiev and All Ukraine.
