Lambeth Palace is the London home of the Archbishop of Canterbury, his family and two religious communities. It is the centre of his ministry, worship and hospitality.
As a working palace and a family home, Lambeth Palace is not open to the public on a daily basis. Our community of volunteers lead tours of the Palace’s State Rooms and Chapels, when possible, and we host a series of special garden open days and events in the summer.
Further information on tours and upcoming opportunities to visit us may be found below:
Our guided tours are given by excellent volunteer guides. Over the course of the tour you will have the chance to see the State Rooms and Chapels of Lambeth Palace, introducing the history of the Archbishops of Canterbury at Lambeth.
Guided Tours of the Palace are sold as mixed groups (currently no availability for private groups). Tickets are £12, plus online booking fee. Tours are organised on weekdays when the historic rooms are available to view. As a working palace and home, availability is limited and varies monthly.
An upcoming refurbishment of the Palace is scheduled to begin later this year with the Palace closing from September 2022. It is our intention to recommence tours following the refurbishment in spring 2024.
All tour dates ahead of closure are now fully booked. Our ticket partner Universe is operating a waiting list, should any tickets be returned. Please visit the ticket portal here to register your interest.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Tours of the Lambeth Palace Library are overseen by the library. Further details and scheduled tours can be found on their website here. Tickets are free with booking in advance required.
The tour will explain the history of the library and its collection, as well as their journey to a brand new, purpose-built home for the books and documents cared for.
