The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Bishop of London introduced the Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Rev Rachel Treweek, in the House of Lords.
To applause from peers, Bishop Rachel made history as she took her seat as the first female bishop in the Lords.
After taking the parliamentary oath, she took her place on the benches as one of the 26 Lords Spiritual.
