The Archbishop of Canterbury has appointed Katie Harrison to the Lambeth Palace team as his new public affairs adviser.

Katie comes to Lambeth Palace from Savanta ComRes, where she directed the Faith Research Centre – the UK's leading commercial research centre of expertise on religion and belief. Before that, she led global corporate communications for the Christian NGO Tearfund and also spent almost eight years working in local government communications.

Katie said: "I am very much looking forward to working with the Archbishop of Canterbury and his team, and to serving their ministry in the public square. This is of course an immensely pressured time, as the world responds to the devastating effects of Covid-19, and we are all in need of meaning, wisdom and hope.

“Our faith in Jesus gives meaning to finitude, and this is a time for the Church to bring thoughtful reflection and hope for the future, grounded in theological rigour and embedded in the practical ministry of local parishes and chaplaincies around the UK."

Archbishop Justin said: “I’m delighted that Katie has taken on this role and look forward to working with her. At this time of great crisis and challenge in our nation, the Church is called bear witness to the radical love, compassion and justice-seeking that we see most clearly in Jesus Christ. This requires much prayer and discernment, and much hard work. I am grateful to Katie for offering her gifts and skills to help us articulate and work towards a vision for our country in which every person and community can flourish.”
