Archbishop Justin Welby has welcomed the Government's competition to design a UK Holocaust memorial next to Parliament.
The Archbishop said: "I’ve seen the consequences of prejudice first-hand in communities across the world. It is vital that we stand together in Britain against anti-Semitism and all forms of racism; recognising our common humanity as children of God and embracing difference so that we can build a truly integrated society where all can flourish.
"This memorial design competition will result in the creation of a physical reminder in our capital city of the need for vigilance against the dangers society faces when tolerance and respect are casually ignored or wilfully discarded.
"It gives a strong message about our values as a country and demonstrates our common resolve to fight hatred and persecution."
