The Archbishop of Canterbury visited Bath and Wells (6-7th September) to encourage and support the diocese in their pursuit of prayer.

Archbishop Justin joined with congregations in their 24 hour ‘wave of prayer’, across workshops, Q+A’s and a worship night.

Commenting on the weekend, Archbishop Justin said, “I deeply enjoyed my visit to Bath and Wells. It has been inspiring to see the church here united in prayer for the wider community. That’s what prayer does. It opens us to God’s love, which fills our lives and leads us to love and serve others. I’m grateful for this reminder, and pray for God’s blessing over this area.”

During the visit, the Archbishop joined with St Mary’s Church for a portion of a 24 hour prayer session in their new custom built prayer shed. On Saturday morning, he sung hymns with farmers at a cattle market in Bridgwater, after enjoying a breakfast of bacon sandwiches. In the afternoon he prayed with the St Francis of Assisi church community, offering prayers for those working at Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, and for the wider community in general. Archbishop Justin also attended a worship night on Friday where young people from local church youth groups prayed for him.
