The Archbishop of Canterbury welcomed Metropolitan Police officers to Lambeth Palace today to share in a morning Eucharist service.

Commissioner Cressida Dick and 80 officers from across London joined the service, including officers involved in the Grenfell Tower response, and those still working at the site and on the inquiry.

Archbishop Justin first invited officers from the Met to Lambeth Palace in November 2015.

The Archbishop said today: “Since officers from the Met last came to worship with us at Lambeth two years ago, they have served Londoners in a way that has demanded more of their skills, dignity and sacrifice than any of us could have imagined. They have made us proud and grateful beyond words.

"We are desperately aware of their dedication to keeping the people of this capital safe, at the greatest personal cost. We truly thank them for all they give – both seen, and so often unseen – and hold them continually in our prayers.”
