Archbishop welcomes Nigeria’s General Yakubu Gowon to Lambeth Palace

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, welcomed the former Nigerian head of state General Yakubu Gowon to Lambeth Palace today during his visit to London.

Archbishop Justin and General Gowan spoke about peace and reconciliation in Nigeria and elsewhere, and shared the Eucharist in the ancient Crypt Chapel at Lambeth.

The Archbishop also introduced General Gowan to the newest members of the Community of St Anselm, the monastic-inspired community of prayer, study and service for young Christians from around the world, based at the Palace.
