Archbishop visits Christian charity supporting sex workers

Thursday 8th October 2015

The Archbishop of Canterbury yesterday visited a Christian charity that supports anyone affected by human trafficking or sexual exploitation in the sex industry.

Archbishop Justin Welby visited Charis, the only organisation in Hertfordshire specifically helping people in the sex industry, to pray with the team and hear about their work.

The Archbishop talked with the team about trafficking and heard how they work alongside people in the sex industry, offering long-term person-centred, practical and holistic support. He also heard about how the charity encourages personal growth, health, safety and well-being.

After the visit Archbishop Justin wrote on Twitter: ‘Amazing day with charity Charis who support and love sex workers with love of Christ - liberating but not judging, full of grace and peace.’
