Archbishop Justin consecrates new Bishops of Sherborne and Dunwich

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, consecrated the new Bishops of Sherborne and Dunwich today during a ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The Ven Karen Gorham was consecrated as the Bishop of Sherborne and the Revd Canon Dr Mike Harrison was consecrated as the Bishop of Dunwich. 

Until recently Bishop Karen served as Archdeacon of Buckingham in the diocese of Oxford. She worked in arts administration before training for ministry in Bristol and serving as a parish priest in the dioceses of York and Canterbury, where she was also assistant director of ordinands and rural dean. She has been a member of the Church of England General Synod for 12 years.

Bishop Mike served as director of mission and ministry in the Diocese of Leicester and was an honorary canon of Leicester Cathedral. He worked as a management consultant and social worker before training for the ministry at Oxford and, after ordination, served as assistant curate at St Anne and All Saints, South Lambeth for four years.
