Archbishop welcomes Omani Minister to Lambeth Palace
Friday 13th June 2014
Following the meeting, the Archbishop said: “The deep relationship between Great Britain and Oman goes back many years and is highly valued. I was delighted to be able to meet His Excellency Shaikh Abdullah personally at a time when more than ever it is important that Christians and Muslims work together.”
Oman has a longstanding record of peacemaking and reconciliation, including hosting an annual meeting which brings together jurists from the different schools within Islam. Within the context of deep sectarian divisions across the region, Archbishop Justin - who has made reconciliation a priority for his ministry - said it was important that he was able to meet and share with the Minister who continues to play such an important role in Oman.
