'Making hope tangible' - a conversation about HIV/AIDS

Friday 20th December 2013

In this video the Archbishop of Canterbury speaks with the Archbishops of Southern Africa and Burundi about the response to HIV and AIDS

During the conversation Archbishop Justin hears how churches in Burundi and Southern Africa are responding to HIV/AIDS and gender-based violence.

The Archbishops reflect on three vital aspects of the ongoing response to HIV/AIDS: ensuring equal access to treatment; the danger posed by gender-based sexual violence; and ending discrimination in access to services, especially against LGTB groups.

The discussion took place while Archbishop Justin was attending the World Council of Churches Assembly in South Korea last month.

Before the conversation Archbishop Justin met with the Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibé, to hear what has been achieved in the global response to HIV/AIDS and what challenges remain.
