Archbishop presented with special copy of Book of Common Prayer

Wednesday 16th October 2013

The Archbishop of Canterbury was ‘absolutely thrilled’ to be presented with a special copy of the Book of Common Prayer by the officers of the Prayer Book Society on Monday.

Lord Cormack, the President of the Prayer Book Society, and Prudence Dailey, the Society’s chairman, presented the Archbishop with the copy of the Book of Common Prayer outside the chapel at Lambeth Palace.

Archbishop Justin uses the Book of Common Prayer for his daily office each evening. He showed the guests the copy he uses, which was printed in 1726.

Lord Cormack said that it was ‘marvellous’ that Archbishop Justin was ‘proving to be a good guardian of the liturgy’.

After being presented with the Book of Common Prayer, Archbishop Justin was briefed by the officers on the Prayer Book Society’s work. He then welcomed the group to Evening Prayer in the chapel.
