Archbishop offers prayers in aftermath of Moscow Metro bombings
Tuesday 30 March 2010
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has written to Patriarch Kyrill of Moscow, offering prayers in the aftermath of the bombings on the Moscow Metro
"News has reached us of the appalling terrorist attack in Moscow and the deaths of so many citizens in this catastrophe. You will know that we, along with you, would wish to express our strongest abhorrence of terrorist tactics; and I also want to assure Your Holiness of our prayers and profound concern at this time for all the people of Moscow and indeed of Russia.
It is a dreadful and sobering beginning to Holy Week, and we can only pray that the power of the Paschal Mystery may still bring healing to all who suffer and penitence to all who are guilty of such murderous violence."
