Statement on the Death of Mr Ken Bigley

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has expressed his sorrow on being informed of the death of Ken Bigley. Dr Williams, who is currently away, said:
" The reports of Ken Bigley's death have come as devastating news for his family and a cruel disappointment for so many people in this country and elsewhere and have brought to nothing the strenuous efforts for his release that have been made.
" Our hearts go out to his family and friends; they are very much in my prayers at this time."
