Archbishop Welcomes New CCJ Co-President
Thursday 14 October 2004
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has welcomed the announcement from the Council of Christians and Jews that Rabbi Tony Bayfield, Chief Executive of the Reform Synagogues of Great Britain, is to succeed the late Rabbi Dr Albert Friedlander as a Co-president of CCJ.
Dr Williams, who is one of the Presidents of CCJ, welcomed the news, saying: "Rabbi Bayfield has contributed very significantly to Christian Jewish relations over many years. Along with the other Presidents of CCJ, I am delighted that he will be joining us. The work which we do together on behalf of our two communities is as rewarding and important as ever and it will be greatly enriched by Rabbi Bayfield's contribution."
